Javier Ghaemi
Hi, I am a digital designer from North London.
I am a multi disciplined designer with experience in working within print, web and product design. I am currently the senior designer, working with the very talented people at Conde Nast Digital, designing and developing digital experiences for brands such as Vogue, GQ, Wired and Glamour to name a few.
I am excited by responsive web design, web fonts, CSS3 and jQuery
I am passionate about what I do and believe in creating clean, elegant designs that are tailored around user research and great UX. I like to get involved at every level of the design and development process and not just provide a beautiful Photoshop composition for developers to build.
A few bits I have been working on recently.
-
Wired Articles & Galleries
A fully responsive experience focusing primarily on readability. We created a solution that enabled the editors of Wired.co.uk to present their stories in a more content focused and engaging manner, whatever the device or screen size it was being viewed on.
-
GQ Homepage & List Pages
Content is king! and nowhere is that more true than on the re-design of the British GQ homepage. It doesn't matter whether you have logged on for news on sport, politics, entertainment, girls or anything in between, with over 40 articles displayed, you are guaranteed to find something you like!
-
GQ Articles & Galleries
Huge, beautiful, widescreen images + engaging, exclusive, award-winning content = an emersive experience on all platforms.
-
Conde Nast Digital UK
A fully responsive microsite, showcasing Conde Nast Digital's brands and the platforms they are supported on.
Thinking Out Loud
A few web design related articles I have written.
-
Is Photoshop Dead?
I guess a more suitable title might be ‘is Photoshop still an appropriate tool for designing typography on the web?’ But that lacks the dramatic appeal of the above.
-
How to develop a responsive workflow
With the introduction of RWD, it is vital that we as designers evolve our workflow to better suit the demands of the new web. Many of us have voiced our frustrations on how Photoshop’s fixed pixel approach is unsuitable for designing the fluid layouts needed for a responsive website but no useful alternatives have been offered.
-
Stop designing for screen width, design for content
The problem I have with this is that my mobile isn’t 320 pixels wide, my tablet isn’t 768 pixels wide and my desktop screen certainly isn’t 1024 pixels wide. There are hundreds of different screen sizes out there on a variety of different devices and yet we still think of responsive web design as 320, 768 and 1024.
